ATVCI.net recommends you have a NIC card installed and
operational before setting up an appointment for the cable modem to be
installed.
A NIC has a RJ45 jack which is bigger than a
phone jack. This is located on a Network Card on
the back of a computer. The card in question usually only one plug in on it
not two.
Cable modems and other high speed data connections
must have this installed to work.
You must have installed and working to connect your
computer to the network 'Internet'.
RJ45
- The very technical term for the
plug that fits
into your Ethernet jack. It is the size

TCP/IP - Transmission
Control Protocol.
Used by programs such as Netscape,
Explorer, Telnet, and FTP to communicate.
You can install it
yourself or have a computer shop do it for you. You
can pick up a NIC card at any of your local computer
stores
Cable
must be ran to your PC prior to the cable modem
installation
.
Your PC has to have a network card installed and
